Gases, gases everywhere, nor any stop to think

Emissions of greenhouse gases are quoted everywhere to illustrate how humanity is sending the world to hell in a hand basket.

The articles make much of “emissions” from various countries, from the developed and the developing worlds. How many know that these vast, hugely important quantities are not even measured?

They’re only calculated from reported energy use — and they are far from reliable. That’s the first point. The second point is that emissions lead, presumably, to a global temperature increase. If they didn’t, there wouldn’t be a problem, would there?

But emissions don’t automatically mean higher temperatures. For a start, about 45% of human emissions — regardless how they increase — are absorbed somewhere in the gigantic natural system. Nobody knows where it all goes. It’s immensely complicated to track our puny emissions of carbon dioxide as they mix with the truly gargantuan streams out of and into forests and the oceans.

So most authors make no attempt to convert the net emissions into a temperature increase, but why not, actually?

The main reason would be that nobody — and I mean nobody, from the IPCC, NASA, the CRU at East Anglia and Al Gore all the way down to me — has the foggiest idea of the temperature that will result from these emissions.

Amazing, eh? There’s no knowledge or evidence of the inconvenient disaster we’re supposed to be creating with our selfish lifestyles. This gives rise to two questions:

  • Why does nobody demand some evidence?
  • What has persuaded everyone, without evidence, that there’s a problem?

Those questions are easy to answer Richard.

People are demanding evidence, but the AGW crowd try to ignore them, sidestep their questions, and bullshit their way through. In the end they still don’t give any evidence though. They can only do this for so long.

What has persuaded everyone there is a problem is parasitic so called ‘scientists’ who are eager to stick their snouts in the trough of taxpayers funds. People who are willing to sell everyone out just so they can stick their hands in our wallets.

I can’t wait till it all turns to custard on them. I predict some people will be shaking in their booties over the consequences of pulling a conjob of this magnitude on the entire world. Bye-bye careers and hello revenge.

Maybe we should ask Thomas over at Hot Topic. He is teaching AGW at schools.
He is unable (or unwilling) to tell me what he teaches.

I am advised by Prof Keith Hunter that he finds my (and Richard C’s) nonsense amusing and intends to use us as examples in his classes at Otago.

I am of course thrilled at the opportunity to be paraded in front of students as a circus freak.

Prof Hunter suggested a while back that I go to a school class to find out what they teach on AGW. Now that I have found a teacher who teaches the subject, he is unable to explain what they teach.

Therefore, not having a syllabus to peruse somewhat limits my options.

At a guess, I’m pickin’ the syllabus covers the following topics:-

      # Sea level rise will necessitate the evacuation of all low lying countries and cities any day now

      # Atmospheric temperatures are the warmist evaaarrrrrrr

      # Ocean acidification is threatening life as we know it

      # The polar ice caps are melting like never before

      # Multiple lines of evidence that all sorts of tipping points are just about to tip

      # Climate model simulations indicate that the doom is worse than we thought

      # Human fossil fuel use must be eradicated (and possibly the humans too)

      # Poor countries must be massively subsidized by the (supposedly) rich to save the planet

      Not necessarily in that order.

      Forgot the most important one:-

      # Greenhouse gasses “trap heat”. Humans keeping warm. cooking their food, making stuff and transporting goods etc are responsible for the morally untenable situation of dangerously mounting levels of GHGs which has already committed the planet to unbearable heat in the pipeline (technical term explained in glossary). The only way to reverse this trend is to tax economies into oblivion.

Students will be asked to take a moment to reflect on the words of renowned climate scientist and father of global warming, Dr James Hansen:-

“The oceans will begin to boil….”

Only then will students fully comprehend the gravity of the prospect that the planet is facing (Tutors please note: counselors may need to be on hand for the expected emotional responses)

Not forgetting the embarrassing JAXA IBUKI revelations (sceptics are probably the only ones with the memory given the subdued media uptake).

The warmists just wanted the information to go away quickly and be expunged from memory ASAP. Before Joe Public got wind of it.

What’s in a name? Actuallly rather a lot, but NZ MSM happily described CAGW due to cow produced CH4 as a ‘mistake’ for the last decade, and instead – yes, it’s the 20% increase in human population in NZ and the resultant CO2 emissions (direct and indirect) that are a major cause for concern, along with their iPod iPhone use and extra power use (even though NZ generates nearly 70% of its power from renewable hydro. As alluded to in an earlier post, any Δt associated with this infinitesimal difference in CO2 is not only far too small to measure, it would lie uselessly within the error bars, and it is impossible to associate causally with humans.

However, this is all sub-text. The important meme derived from stated Green principles is that humanity itself – the populus – is responsible and of course, we all know the ‘final solution’ to save Gaia from the scourge. Hasn’t anyone, and in particular the MSM in NZ, noticed the latest utterances from their High Priest, James Lovelock, who recently admitted to alarmism?

We’re being introduced stealthily to the nightmare scenario, where one of the least populous nations on Earth is being educated to consider that population is a ‘problem’. This travesty of science and policy making is slowly unraveling as the claims of cause become strident and patently absurd. Sense will prevail when the grant monies are finally depleted!

Read no further than the writings of Pentti Linkola to get the true taste of eco-fascism.

    • Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.

Including drugs to keep old people alive. Excluding the internet, obviously — and therefore metals, glass, plastics, electricity generation, fossil fuels, transport, etc.

Agriculture moves to small un-mechanized units.

Strange. That would make it LESS efficient. He hasn’t thought THIS one through, heh, heh!

Wow, you do find ’em, Andy.

      Clearly a niche market

I think Corporal Snicklegruber started out with fewer than that, and with no special advantage conferred by online social networking! Aberrational characters such as these act as magnets for those rudderless folk who need to ‘believe’ in something. ‘Save the Planet’ is compelling stuff, as Al Gourdo demonstrated.
