UPDATE – 29 April
Regarding the protest march planned for 15 May:
Climate Realists is a single issue lobby group. We were formed out of a joint concern about the accuracy of the climate information being presented to the general public. (The global warming delusion) The political result of this information, as we all know, is the Emissions Trading Scheme to which we are totally opposed.
The march will not be solely confined to opposing the ETS. It would not be appropriate for us as a Climate Realists Network to endorse this march which covers a wide range of issues.
Neil will not now be one of the speakers at the march on the 15th May, and Climate Realists as a network will not be officially endorsing this event.
We will continue to work in every way we are able to convince the government to at least defer if not scrap their ETS.
We will also continue to inform this network about new developments, meetings, interesting research etc as it comes to hand and provide a forum for members to contribute their views on this issue.

Friday night saw Neil at a public meeting listening to Barry Coates of Oxfam who, although he is to be commended for his concern for the impoverished of the world, unfortunately does not have a very accurate handle on the truth about climate change. Neil was impressed at being allowed to contribute by way of comments and questions and also took the opportunity to speak with Mr Coates afterwards. Monday night saw Neil addressing a FGBM meeting in Gisborne, and today he’s away to Mahia attending another climate meeting- this one run by MAF (again). Hopefully he will be able to have some input there too.
We are all very disappointed that the government has seen fit to continue with its ETS despite the announcement yesterday that Australia’s ETS legislation is now on the back burner for at least three years.

All the more reason to encourage members of this network to get out and protest on the streets-
the opportunity is presenting itself in just over two weeks- Saturday May 15th in Hamilton.
A protest march will be held to coincide with the regional National Party conference-

We will be travelling six hours from Gisborne to get there, and we know others are coming all the way from National Park to join in. How about you?

HAWKES BAY CLIMATE SEMINAR
Run by IPENZ, the ‘Science of Climate Change Seminar’ will be held on:
11th May,

The purpose of the seminar is to explore the scientific basis of climate change, given the confused opinions that are currently being promulgated. The Hawke’s Bay Branch of IPENZ has no formal position on whether this change is anthropogenic or not….. the science of climate change is not well established. The purpose of the seminar is to explore and debate different views on a scientific basis.

Below is an excellent example of the kind of email that is well worth sending on to your friends and acquaintances.
We need to keep up the pressure!
I am sending you this email as I believe it is imperative that the Emissions Trading Scheme must be put on hold immediately. From 1st July this year it will cost the average family between $1500 and $5000 per annum. The average farm will be dragged down by $10,000 per annum by this non-sensical scheme.

On the 1st July, 2010, New Zealand’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is to be implemented.
The ETS is effectively a new tax that will affect most sectors of the New Zealand economy, raising prices for all New Zealanders.
It can be estimated it will eventually cost the average New Zealand household about $2500 – $3000 in higher prices (worsened by any increase in the rate of GST). In addition, Sheep and Beef farmers will become liable (at $25/tonne CO2) to $5,200, while Dairy farmers will pay over $10,000 each – with 75% of these levies commencing in July 2010. And then there is the jump in prices of EVERYTHING, followed by higher interest rates!
For what?
For no measurable changes to CO2 levels and climate!
There are no positives, only negatives for the people of New Zealand.
We join the business and farming communities in calling on the Government to defer the implementation of the ETS given:
– that it has just become known that Australia is deferring the implementation of its ETS scheme until 2013,
– that no other country has put in place any similar scheme,
– that its implementation will severely disadvantage NZ against its trading partners,
– that it will cause unnecessary hardship for a very large number of New Zealanders.

Bolivian Conference: Keep an eye out for wht’s happening in the world:
There were four big ideas proposed for the conference by the Bolivian government:
“That nature should be granted rights that protect ecosystems from annihilation (a ‘universal declaration of Mother Earth rights’);
that those who violate those rights and other international environmental agreements should face legal consequences (a ‘climate justice tribunal’);
that poor countries should receive various forms of compensation for a crisis they are facing but had little role in creating (‘climate debt’);
and that there should be a mechanism for people around the world to express their views on these topics (‘world people’s referendum on climate change’).”

THE university embroiled in the scandal over leaked climate change emails has sparked outrage by handing the personal details of climate change sceptics to police.
The University of East Anglia claimed it had been deluged with requests from sceptics under the Freedom of Information Act shortly before hacked emails were published which appeared to show scientists manipulating climate change data.
But the university has angered privacy campaigners after passing on the details of those asking for information to Norfolk Police, which is investigating the alleged email theft with the National Domestic Extremism Unit

Prime Minister John Key has made that fringe party’s radical objectives mainstream by agreeing to: Fly the Tino Rangitiratanga flag of Maori sovereignty on government buildings on Waitangi Day; devolve about $1-billion a year to Maori social service providers; sign up to the United Nation’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and could enact a radical law change to give Maori de facto sovereignty over the foreshore, seabed, substrate, and airspace.
