Now sea levels are rising fast

Rash of news alerts

From News.Scotsman.com comes worrying information of rapid sea level rise.

Global warming is causing sea levels to rise at a faster rate today than at any time in the past 2,100 years, according to new research.

Scientists used the fossils left by tiny marine animals to record two millennia of sea levels along the US Atlantic coast.

In the most detailed look yet at sea level change, scientists on Monday reported that waters along the East Coast have risen far faster over the past century than at any time in the previous 2000 years. [Philadelphia Inquirer]

The research confirms what has often been assumed, that there’s a very strong link between sea levels and temperatures. More worryingly, it also seems to confirm just how uniquely pronounced the current climate change really is. [io9]

Every so-called ‘science reporter/correspondent/editor in the Western world’s MSM is wetting themselves over this one, along with the equally silly story about the world’s oceans turning to acid and beginning a quick death, in which they have unquestioningly ingested the press relase then spewed it out again miraculously almost unchanged!
One of the worst offenders is Richard Black of the BBC, who trashes the Beeb’s charter on matters of bias on an almost daily basis. What Black knows about science could be engraved on the head of a pin and still leave considerable space. The other ace science/ environment meeja person to read for a good laugh is Louise Gray, who dishes out a truly stupid serving of death-by-press-release on an almost daily basis. My cockie mates have working dogs which are more intelligent than some of the ‘scientific/environmental meeja!
